Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing European Conference

For the second year, CECIMO is organizing the "Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing European Conferenceā€ at the European Parliament in Brussels (Belgium) on 25 May 2016 from 9.00 to 13.00.

Building on the outcome of the first edition, the event now aims at going forward with creating a European strategy on additive manufacturing and 3D printing. The speed at which the seats filled in is proof of the importance to support the steady, long-lasting and consistent development of additive manufacturing in Europe. The event will be streamed live from 9.00 on YouTube and here.

CECIMO and additive manufacturing
The European machine tool industry has always been on forefront of innovation and of R&I-generated solutions in various industrial sectors, including automotive, aerospace, power generation, medical products and general engineering.

Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, is identified as one of the major disrupting technologies of the 21st century. It offers a great potential to enable design freedom and the development of complex free-form structures, the efficient and accelerated production of customized products, and the minimisation of material waste. As application fields rapidly expand from prototyping towards direct parts production, its transformative impact is being revealed in all areas of manufacturing: product design, production, supply chain organization, services and skills. CECIMO is the point of reference in the area of metallic based additive manufacturing for EU policy-makers. It works at ensuring that EU policies and regulations create the right framework conditions for the development of AM and contribute to boosting the competitiveness of the European industry as a whole. The first Additive Manufacturing European Conference was organised by CECIMO at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium in June 2015.
