Intra-sapphire engraving
Swiss Micro Laser pushes a new door in the field of sapphire machining. After successfully cutting a perfectly functional watch gear wheel out of sapphire, engraving inside a sapphire crystal becomes possible. Indeed, several months of development were required to enable this material to be engraved in its heart, without visible external marks. Moreover, this marking can be completely invisible for component identification since the minimum definition reached is 4µm per engraved pixel.
