New alloy CuBe2 Emery Low LeadTM
Lamineries MATTHEY is proud to present the new CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ alloy from MATERION: a low-lead copper-beryllium alloy, compliant with the RoHS directive (Pb ≤ 1000 ppm), available in bar and wire form.
CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ is a precipitation-hardenable copper-beryllium alloy that achieves its high mechanical properties through structural hardening. The bars and wires exhibit mechanical properties and machinability comparable to those of the M25 alloy (CuBe2Pb).
Key features of the CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ alloy:
- RoHS compliant (lead < 1000 ppm)
- Excellent machinability, comparable to M25 alloy
- High hardness and mechanical strength, equivalent to M25 alloy
- Ideal solution for connectors, including male and female Swiss-turned contacts
- Suitable for the watch industry, particularly for precision Swiss-turned components
The alloy has been developed for use in existing applications and represents a high-performance alternative to conventional CuBe2Pb alloys. Depending on the application, fine-tuning of machining parameters may be required.
