Since 2021, the manufacturer of machine tool peripherals LNS has been a partner of Nigel Bailly, a mobility-impaired driver of a magnificent Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2.
We met Carlos Muniz, Head of Marketing Europe and Tamara Bregnard, Marketing & Customer Community Coordinator BU EU at LNS to talk about it and discover how this collaboration fits with the company's visions. Interview!
Part 1 - Collaboration
LNS has established a special partnership in motorsport with Nigel Bailly. Why did you initiate this collaboration?
Carlos Muniz (CM): LNS has always been associated with motorsport. The founders of the company were already passionate about it and from its inception, close links were forged between the performance of the peripherals produced in Orvin and those related to motorsport. The quest for excellence and the "pole position" are part of the company's DNA.
Tamara Bregnard (TB): Nigel lost the use of his legs at the age of 14 following a motocross accident. He considers his disability as one of the elements to overcome to achieve excellence and is constantly looking for solutions. His story touched us and he is an example to follow with whom we can draw parallels with the company.
You talk about parallels; can you explain a little more?
CM: On paper, Nigel starts with a phenomenal delay over the other competitors. He only has his two hands as interfaces with the car while his opponents can rely on twice as many means of control. He therefore had to completely modify the car to be able to drive it with his hands only. He can therefore logically not do as many operations simultaneously as a traditional driver... and yet he manages to keep up with them and play in the big league. In order to meet the safety standards (for example being able to get out of the car in less than 30 seconds), he also had to follow an extraordinary physical preparation to build up his muscles.
TB: It's a bit like LNS, we are a Swiss manufacturer providing high-end products. With the strong Swiss franc and the standard of living in Switzerland, it is not easy to compete against competition... and like Nigel, we have to adapt constantly to achieve it.
Reading your answer, on paper it's very clear. But in practice, what does your collaboration involve?
TB: We are sponsors and he inspires us. For us who work in marketing and sales, it's easy to identify and make the links, but that's obviously not enough. We want all the staff of LNS to find meaning in it. And that's the case.
CM: We want this collaboration to make sense for all our colleagues and we don't want an artificial "public relations program".
