3D cabins - Application of sandblasting in 3D printing

Surface treatment by our dedicated 3D printing cabins, innovation at the service of surface finishing.
The use of sandblasting cabinets in 3D printing, also known as the additive method, may seem unusual, but it's actually very common and effective for finishing and post-processing.

When you print an object in 3D, there may be defects, cut lines and other imperfections on the surface of the object due to the printing processes. These imperfections can be problematic for functional applications where a smooth, uniform surface is required, or for painting and finishing processes where a smooth, uniform surface is essential.

This is where sandblasting cabinets come into play. Sandblasting cleans and smoothes irregular surfaces on 3D printed objects, providing a uniform, smooth finish. Sandblasting removes the top layer of the rough surface, but not enough to affect the geometry or precision of the part.

Consequently, sandblasting cabinets are used in 3D printing to improve the surface quality of printed objects, to remove surface imperfections such as layers of molten wire, burrs and irregularities, and to smooth surfaces.
