Grinding all-rounder: Blaser introduces Blasogrind GTM 4

With the market launch of the Blasogrind GTM 4 grinding oil, which is based on gas-to-liquid technology, Swiss metalworking fluid expert Blaser Swisslube completes its product range: The low-viscosity product complements the existing Blasogrind GTM 10 and is characterized by faster air release and a low tendency to mist. The multipurpose grinding oil is ideal for producing cutting tools, molding tools and precision parts made of carbide, high speed steel, regular and special steels, ceramics, as well as other materials. Additional potential also exists across multiple industries and grinding systems. Rollomatic SA is convinced by the new grinding oil.

After a rigorous research and development phase as well as extensive field tests, Blaser Swisslube presents the innovative Blasogrind GTM 4 grinding oil, a product based on gas-to-liquid technology that demonstrates outstanding grinding performance in carbide grinding. “Our goal was to develop a low-viscosity grinding product that optimally complements GTM 10. And that’s what we’ve achieved: Blasogrind GTM 4 is ideal for grinding a wide range of materials, from carbide, high speed steel, regular and special steels to ceramics,” explains Simon Stalder, grinding specialist at Blaser Swisslube.

Regardless of segment, machine, and material

Among other things, the innovation is characterized by its low tendency to mist, good wetting and rinsing characteristics, good machine compatibility and filterability, as well as excellent stability. Blasogrind GTM 4 also minimizes the release of cobalt thanks to an inhibitor. In addition, it is colorless and ensures a rapid air release, ensuring a clear view of the machining process. The versatility of the Blasogrind GTM 4 extends across different market segments and a wide spectrum of applications. Potential Blasogrind GTM 4 applications comprise mixed parts production, including precision grinding of components, as well as the production of rolling bearing components and forming tools. In addition, the medical industry and the production of sensitive medical tools and instruments represent another segment for this versatile product.

During the research and development phase, the Blaser Swisslube team was able to draw on findings from previous laboratory work and extensive test series in the Technology Center. In a benchmark test in the Technology Center, Blasogrind GTM 4 was completely convincing and outperformed all other products tested. “If a customer wants a low-viscosity, gas-to-liquid-based grinding oil, the new Blasogrind GTM 4 is the clear choice,” Simon Stalder is convinced.

International field tests confirm success

The multipurpose grinding oil was carefully evaluated in field tests – at an American manufacturer of carbide cutting tools, an American provider of precision grinding services, a Slovakian provider of high-precision gears and a Swiss CNC machine manufacturer. The tests were consistently successful.
