Lead-free brass
In collaboration with Swissmetal, we have succeeded in taking a further ecological step in the brass sector.
The new brass material is particularly suited to the production of a wide range of turned parts (automatic lathes). The specially developed 58V variant has been specially designed to meet the general requirements of the watchmaking industry, with regard to lead concentration (=<0.05% in advance of the European REACH regulation).
This new material features a duplex copper-zinc alloy. Another important advantage is that this brass lends itself well to hot forming (630-730C°).
To achieve improved machinability, the microstructural properties were modified. This was achieved by adding tin and nickel.
Cutting conditions: Vc ≈ 40 - 90 m/min.
